"Maggie Parkins is an exceptionally talented cellist. We worked together on the occasion of a premiere of one of my compositions. Not only was I amazed by her precision, her sound and her passionate playing; she also excelled at maintaining fluid communication as we worked on polishing the performance during the weeks prior to the concert."

“Maggie Parkins is an extraordinary cellist and musician who has both impeccable technique and deep emotional breadth. I knew about Maggie Parkins’ reputation in the new music scene for many years, but it wasn’t until I worked with her on my own music that I realized how brilliant and impassioned her musical voice truly is.”

“I have had the great pleasure of composing for and working with Maggie Parkins for several years. As a member of the white-hot Eclipse String Quartet, the dazzling Mojave Piano Trio, and as a riveting soloist, she has premiered many of my pieces in brilliant and well received performances and recordings. Her impeccable technique, beautiful sound, deep musical instinct, and her warm and engaging personality make her a composer’s dream to work with.”

If you're looking to record a live, world-class cello layer on your track, Maggie is the perfect option for you.

An uncommonly versatile musician, cellist Maggie Parkins is equally at home performing chamber music, orchestral music and the avant-garde, and has concertized throughout the Americas and Europe. In addition to being a member of the Eclipse Quartet, Maggie is also the cellist of the Los Angeles based Mojave Piano Trio, Brightwork newmusic, and The Smudges.

Maggie’s interest in music outside the classical tradition has led her to perform with the Jazz Passengers, the Anthony Braxton Tri Centric Ensemble, Beck, Caetano Veloso, Bjork, percussionist Alex Cline and Zeena Parkins' The Phantom Orchard Orchestra. As an orchestral performer, Maggie has performed under the batons of Seiji Ozawa, Leonard Bernstein, Simon Rattle, Oliver Knussen, and Andre Previn.

An active recording artist as well, Maggie has recorded extensively with harpist Zeena Parkins and with accordionist Guy Klusevsek and Eclipse and can be heard on the Tzadik, Avan, New World, Bridge and Victo labels.

She has performed around the world at prestigious venues including the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival, the Banff Centre, Festival Internacional de Musica de Cadaques (Spain), Heidelberg Castle Festival, Spoleto (USA and Italy), the Taktlos Festival (Switzerland), the Scarlatti Festival in Naples, Tanglewood Festival, the Bach Aria Festival in New York and the Wels Festival Unlimited.

Questions about booking your first session?

Our Executive Producers are here to walk you through the process.

How do remote sessions work?

After you’ve booked your remote session, there are three simple steps in the preparation, completion and delivery of your files.

1. Preparation
Download and install Zoom (https://zoom.us/download). Ensure you have a stable internet connection (we recommend using an ethernet cable) and good quality headphones or speakers to enjoy your experience.

2. Remote Session
Attend your session live and collaborate with the artist you booked.

3. Download your files
Download your files after the session. You will receive the download link within 24h after the session!

How far along in my track do I need to be before booking a session?

At any stage. It can even just be an idea or a simple voice recording. Our resident producers will take your idea and turn it into a reality. Our average full production cost is €399, but if you’re not sure or want to get a specific quote, just get in touch.

How far in advance can I book?

You can book up to one week in advance. We don’t accept bookings fewer than 7 days before any session. That’s because we want to give our residents enough time to fully prepare for your session. To make it one worth having and remembering!

What happens after I make a booking?

We’ll ask you to fill out a super quick form to give us more info about your track or album. You can tell us details like the track name, bpm and a reference track. We’ll also provide you with a link where you can send us your music files (i.e. any bounces, DAW session file and music score if you have one).

What happens during my session?

Before the session, you’ll receive links to join the live HQ audio and video stream for the session. Please access these links at least 5 minutes before the session is due to begin, to mitigate any technical issues you may encounter.
During the session you will typically introduce yourself and the musical piece, chat about your intentions, arrangement etc, and we jump right into recording or producing. A 30 minutes recording session usually allows for 2 to 3 full takes with time left over to go back over specific parts. We’ll wrap up and talk about some next steps to get complete.

What's the sound quality like during my session?

You will be able to listen to the high quality audio feed directly from the artist’s DAW. It’s like you’re right there in the studio - no sound compromise!

What do I receive after my session?

You will receive every take that the artist recorded, according to the audio specifications that you have requested. These will be the raw session files as well as bounces of each recorded track (wav). You will receive an email with the download link within 24h.

My track is already under development. What’s the correct format to send to you?

We accept WAV or AIFF files at sampling rates of 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96kHz, and bit depths of either 16, 24 or 32 bit. Note that for orchestra recording sessions, we only accept 48khz at 24bits. Please supply us with mono or stereo files, clearly named and without audio clipping. You will need to provide multi-tracks that are consolidated or bounced from the start point of your song (bar 1 beat 1 or start time code). All files must be of the same duration, sample rate and bit depth. Please feel free to contact us if you're not sure.

What’s the cancellation policy?

We offer a full refund on cancellations up to 7 days prior to the scheduled recording session. Within 7 days of the session, cancellations will incur a 50% session fee. In the case of a no-show, you will not be refunded. Our satisfaction guarantee means if you’re not happy with your session, just let us know and we’ll issue a refund.
